Essay Topic:

Human Rights and International Justice

1) Choose a thesis dealing with an angle or problem related to human rights and international justice. This will be your thesis.

2) Analyze the notion and origin of human rights.

3) Choose an international conflict or international issue involving the violation of human rights. Analyze it in light of the theories we discussed in class. It is important that you make specific reference and connect your international conflict or issue topic to the theories, conflicts, and activities actually discussed in class.

4) Cite every idea that is not yours. Cite every paragraph where you do not use your own language.

5) Show me an outline of your paper for feedback by the first class in February. The outline should have the main question to be addressed in the essay, a comprehensive and annotated list of sources which should include journal articles, books, and studies, government documents, and/or legislation.

6) You are encouraged to discuss your essay at any stage with the instructor.

7) While writing your essay, please bear in mind the evaluation criteria, particularly the requirement that the essay must make reference to class discussions and activities.
