Topic 1: Sexual offenses in Canada

 

1)      Choose a thesis dealing with an angle or problem related to sexual offenses in Canada. This will be your thesis.

2)      Define sexual assault in Canada.

3)      Define all other sexual offenses in Canada.

4)      Analyze these definitions.

5)      Include at least one criminology theory in your essay. Analyze how this criminology theory explains the problem.

6)      Find two Criminal Justice cases that support or deal with your problem.

7)      Cite every idea that is not yours. Cite every paragraph where you do not use your own language.

8)      Show me an outline of your paper for feedback by the first class in January. The outline should have the main question to be addressed in the essay, a comprehensive and annotated list of sources which should include journal articles, books, and studies, government documents, and/or legislation.

9)      You are encouraged to discuss your essay at any stage with the instructor.

10)  While writing your essay, please bear in mind the evaluation criteria, particularly the requirement that the essay must make reference to class discussions and activities.

 

 

Topic 2: Comparison between the Canadian Criminal Justice system and a foreign one.

 

1)      The purpose of the essay is to compare one or some aspects of the –mainstream- Canadian Criminal Justice system and that of a foreign country. Choose a thesis dealing with an angle or problem of the comparison. This will be your thesis.

2)      Analyze the aspects of the Canadian criminal justice system and that of a foreign country.

3)      Find, at least, two Criminal Justice cases that support or deal with your problem both in Canada and in the compared country.

4)      Cite every idea that is not yours. Cite every paragraph where you do not use your own language.

4)      Include, at least, one criminology theory in your essay. Analyze how this criminology theory may help explain the problem or may help design the solution.
