2)   Watch the audiovisual presentation by clicking here.

 

3)   Read the article on Law and the social sciences by Jonathan R. Macey by clicking here.

 

4)   Based on the article by Austin Sarat, explain the importance of teaching law in the liberal arts and outline the difference between teaching and learning law in the liberal arts and in law school.

 

5)   Based on the article by Macey, explain the distinguishing characteristics of the law and social science approaches.

 

6)   Give examples of Social Science disciplines that examine Law. What are their goals and main characteristics? For this question, you may want to watch the audiovisual presentation again and search the Internet for more examples.

 

7)   Write one question about Law and Social Sciences for the test bank.

 

8)   Look for an article dealing with a legal issue from a Social Science perspective in the Academic Search Premier database available for free at Algoma U’s Arthur Wishart Library (there is also access to this database from off campus). Provide the title, author, and source of the article. Very briefly summarize the article, focusing on the way the legal issue is examined from a Social Science perspective.

 

 

9)   Pass in a written report answering all these questions next class. You can work individually or in small groups. There is no page limit, but ideally the length of the report should be about 3 to 4 pages.
